Deniliquin

Deniliquin is the third stop in the Outback Story Generator Project and the home of Outback Theatre for Young People.

Some 'Deni' facts:

  •  Deniliquin is situated 734 km south-west of Sydney via the Hume and Riverina Highways and 91 metres above sea-level.
  •  Deniliquin lies at the centre of four irrigation districts which cover 725,000 hectares, the largest area under irrigation in Australia.
  •  Deniliquin is home to the Play on the Plains Festival held each September/October on the New South Wales Labour Day long weekend. The festival includes the famous Deniliquin Ute Muster.

Jessica was in Deniliquin from the 31st March to 17 April 2014 working with Year 10 students from Deniliquin High School. Jessica also ran a Masterclass for a specialised group of students from Grades 7-11 who showed high-level writing skills. Jessica also ran workshops with 5 local primary schools. While in Deniliquin, Jessica participated in an 'Artistic Exchange' evening with local arts groups Deniliquin Writers and Deniliquin Bush Poets.
